DERVIS

Hello! I'm Dervis, founder of our cherished cooking classes in Tirana. Despite a background in Finance, my passion for cooking, kindled at 16, and truly blossomed in Martha's Vineyard's culinary scene at 18. This journey took me from the UK back to Tirana, where I opened my first restaurant at 26, marrying my love for food.

My cooking style is a journey through cultures and memories for me, with a focus on Mediterranean, South American, and Asian cuisines. Influenced by Anthony Bourdain, I view myself more as a food enthusiast and researcher, aiming to break traditional culinary boundaries to evoke joy and nostalgia of childhood memories.

I am launching cooking classes in Tirana to share my knowledge and love for food with guests from all around the world. This dream is now a reality, inviting everyone to join me in a journey that promises not just to learn, but to transform the way we see, feel, and experience food.

MARIS

Hi! My name is Maris, I am 36 years old and originally from Tirana. I hold a degree in Law and a Master of Science in International Commercial Law.


For several years, I worked in Croatia as a lawyer and as an organizer of international missions in a rehabilitation center for people struggling with different types of addictions.


In 2022, I returned to Albania with several projects, one of which was the creation of a center for people with disabilities, especially children with autism. With the support of the Municipality of Tirana, we successfully opened this center, which now provides various therapies to over 200 children.

Cooking has always been one of my greatest passions. I love exploring different flavors, and I believe traditional Albanian cuisine is among the richest and most delicious I have ever experienced.

 

That’s why I decided to be part of Cooking Class Tirana – to share the authentic tastes of my country with visitors from all over the world. Together, we prepare simple, fun, and flavorful dishes that represent the heart of Albania’s culinary tradition. These are family recipes, passed down from generation to generation, carrying with them not just taste, but stories, culture, and heritage. I look forward to welcoming you into our kitchen and sharing an unforgettable experience with you.”

THE FOOD PHILOSOPHY

Central to our cooking classes is the commitment to using the freshest, most wholesome ingredients.

I personally handpick each ingredient from various farms near Tirana, adhering to the km0 principle. This ensures that we use local Albanian produce, which is renowned for its freshness and health benefits, thanks to our country's favorable climate and terrain. By doing so, we not only support our local farmers but also provide our guests with the highest quality ingredients that truly make a difference in the flavors of our dishes.
